DOMINION BOWLING TOURNEY
SINGLES COMPETITION. WELLINGTON, January 27. The singles competition was continu cd yesterday in beautiful weather.
In the semi-final of the bowling championship singles, Spiller (Sydenham) 20 beat Jury (Karangahake) 6. A strong wind affected the play. The final was concluded this afternoon when J. M. Brackenridgo (Newtown,, Wellington), defeated Rpiller (Sydenham), 23-15 on the 20th. head. Brackenridgo took the lead early and on the fifth head led 10 to 1. Spilled then improved his drawing and on the ninth head the scores were Brackenbridge 10, Spiller 8. Thereafter, although the various heads were closely contested, Brackenbridge maintained his lead. Spiller scored two in each of the 14th. and 15th. heads bringing the scores tu 16-13, but Brackenbridge added seven points to his total, to Spiller’s 2 before the 20th head, when the game ended.
At the conclusion of play the piizes won in the various sections were presented to the successful competitors by Mr Bush, President of the Dominion Bowling Association.
