— ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. AN EASIER. MARKET. (By Tolcgraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday:— « CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 26. Store Sheep.—A small yardingcomprised mostly of lambs, which showed a decided rise on last week’s sale. Best rape lambs from 22s to 25s (id ; others from 17s to 21s; wethers from 22s to 255; others from 17s fb 21s. Good ewes, sound mouth from 20s to 235; failing mouth and others from 10s (id to 15s. A better demand all round owing to recent good rains. Store Cattle.—A very small yarding, mostly odd lots. Practically no. big cattle were yarded and competition was not very keen. Yearlings and 18month steers, £3 10s to £3 15s; ditto heifers, £3 os to £4 I2s (id; good fresh cows were iu better demand from £4 to £6 15s.
Beef.—A smaller yarding than last week and the quality was very mixed, but included some very good lots. Best sleets to £25 12s (id, prime £lB 15s, to £22 IDs; medium £ll 15s to £18; lighter and inferior, £l2 5s to £l4 10s. Cows and heifers sold proportionately well. Best cows to £lB ss, prime £l2 to £l7 IDs; heifers to £l6 ss, prime i'll 15s to £ls ss. The market generally was better all round.
Mutton.—A very small yarding and the market opened much firmer than last week, but quickly dropped back and finished up similar to last week. Freezing buyers were only able to operate towards the end of the sale. I test wethers to 39s 9d, prime 28s to :tls lOd ; others 2-ls to 27 ; best ewes 26s to 31s; a few extra to 34s 9d; medium 23s to 25s Gd, lighter inferior ltis (id to 225.
