WATERFONT ALTERCATION
WELLINGTON January 26
As a result of an altercation on the waterfront, Edward Turner, second engineer on the BeJlbucklc, was arrested and charged with, carrying a revolver without a license. It was ajjeged that accused drew a loaded revolver and fired a Imllet. into the wharf decking.
WATERFRONT OFFER REJECTED
WELLINGTON, Jan. 26
It is understood that as a result of the ballot recetnly taken, the Waterside Workers’ Federation rejected the recent oiler of a bonus oi Id per hour.
The employers are now considering whether they will go further with the conference as requested by the Federation. A delicate position has arisen as a result of tho trouble with the boiler-makers engaged in repair work at the patent slip. The parties are at variance over the interpretation of the dirt money clause. There may he sciioiis developments if a settlement is not reached at the conference to be held this afternoon.
