He was unable at the time to announce the conditions. i MAGISTRATE’S DECISION. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, January 24. A judgment of importance to performing musicians was given by Mr VJqCa-rthy .S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court in a ease brought by the Inspector of Awards against tTic manager of Strand Picture Theatre*. Tho Inspector claims to recover £lO as a penalty for breach of the Christchurch Performing Musicians Award, alleging the defendant had employed a performer on a mechanical instrument and failed to pay her wages provided in the award, 'rho performer gave evidence that she. was not a .musician and could not play. Her duties consisted of putting records on th,'o instrunuint. 'rife Magistrate held the award contemplated that the persons it covered must he, to a certain extent, skilled musicians. An attendant of the instrument concerned was not playing, nor performing in any shape or form, and was not a player within the meaning of the award. Judgment was given for the defendant.
