McLEAN’S PICTURES,
“COUNTERFEIT” TO-NIGIIT
Mr McLean presents to-night Elsie Ferguson in “Counterfeit.” Surprised while robbing a safe by the man she loved! She was innocent too, but could not explain. Beautiful Elsie Ferguson in a role that calls upon all her wonderful powers of dramatic expression. 1 lie lure o! the Secret Service, the fashions ol America’s wealthiest resort, the machinations ..t aluind of crooks preying on society: the mystery, love and adventure that make a picture—they are all in “Counterfeit.” Some of the guests laughed at her frankness; some of them marvelled at her nerve; one.of the figures on catching her redlhanded, and one of them (the man who had grown to love her) was anxious and uneasy.
For last night, as the clock struck twelve ,ho had heard a noise downstairs, and creeping softly down had discovered her at the safe of their hostess with a bundle of notes in her trembing hands. “Tf you really love me, then you must must trust me,” she said. But he could not! Circumstantial evidence was against her. The chain tightened—and that, evening he went out--out of her life for ever, he thought. Also the Max Sonnett Comedy “The Gingham Girl” and the 14th episode of the serial “Wolves of Kultur.”
