TWO MEN, INCLUDING A.V.C., INJURED.
RAWER A, Jan HTwo men J. Grant V.C., and Milligan were admitted to the hospital this morning ,suffering from injuries received through a motor-car going over a bank at Manutahi. Milligan’s head was badly lacerated, and he lost much blood. An elbow was dislocated, and he sustained abrasions on a leg. The extent of Grant’s injuries are thought to be very serious, but as yet have not been ascertained. The accident occurred late last night. [Mr Grant won the Victoria Cross near Baneourt, on September 1, 1918, when as a sergeant in the Ist Battalion, Wellington Regiment, he was in command of. a platoon forming part ot the leading waves of the battalion attacking, he rushed ahead, and with great dash and bravery entered the centre one of five machine-gun posts, demoralising the garrison and enabling the men of his platoon to mop up the position. He then rushed the post oh the left, and the remaining posts were quickly closed by his company.]
