ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. DROP IN CATTLE. (Sy Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as tollows regarding their stock sale yesterday:— Reef.—An average yarding, including some extra good quality, but a large proportion of cow beef. The market was a good deal easier all round, especially for inferior cows. Good prime steers sold well. Extra prime steers sold from £‘23 to £25; prime steers £lB to £22 Ids; medium £l3; to £l7 10s; light and unfinished £8 10s to £l2 15s 6d; cows and heifers a similar proportion. Store cattle.—A small yarding, mostly oddments. The market was absolutely lifeless. 3-yr. steers sold to £lO 7s Od; 2-vr. steers £5 10s to £7 15s; AI.S. yearlings, £2 os to £3 10s; some Hereford heifers made £4 10s to £4 15s; cows £3 to £5 ss; empty heifers £4 to £5 10s. Fat sheep—An average yarding, including some of good quality. The market was decidedly easier, especially for ewes, which came back to the freezing limit, showing a big drop on last week. Wethers were also considerably easier, hut not to the same extent as ewes. Wethers were about sfd and ewes 4d overall. Rest wethers sold to 36s (id, ono good line making 36s 4d to 36s 0d; prime 27s (id to 335; medium 25s to 275; lighter and inferior, 22s 6d to 24s Cd. Rest ewes to 325; prime 25s to 28s 6d; god ewt's 22s Od to 21s Od. Lighter 18s 6d to 225; inferior 14s 6d to 17s 9d; lambs were very dear, equal to lOd per lb over all.
Store sheep—A smal lentry, mostly wethers, which were dull of sale in face of the continued dry weather. Rest wethers from 20s to 245; others from 14s Od to 17s; best rape lambs from 17s to 21s; others from 10s 6d to 15s Od; young ewes from 15s Od to 21s; wethers from 10s 6d to 14s.
