“OFFICIALLY DEAD” MAN.

NEW YORK, Nov 20. Lieut. John C. Gramstorff a veteran American soldier, who is living with his parents at Everett (Massachusetts) has received a notification by telegraph from the P.S. War Department that liis body is' on its way home from France. He lias repeatedly informed the War Department that be is not dead. His parents are wondering what to do with the body when it arrives. Lieut. Gramstorff has an additional grievance owing to the fact that bo cannot obtain payment of money due to him.

NO RIGHT TO FAMILY. NEW YORK, Nov. 20. An application for a divorce filed by a Cleveland (Ohio) clergyman, the Rev. Benjamin A. Sherwin, was refused yesterday by Judge Frank C. Phillips on the ground that Mr Sherwin had no right to a wife and five children on a salary of £lB per month. The judge declared that it was an act of extreme cruelty for a minister of reli gion to retain his post at that salary, when he had a large family to support. Not only did the judge refuse a divorce, but be also awarded tin; wife the custody of the children and ordered Mr Sherwin to pa v her £ls a month alimony. After the decision Mr Sherwin said he would try to find employment as a machinist.
