LATE LOCALS.

The County Council met this afternoon. A full report will appear tomorrow. The friends of Mr and Mrs Robert Watson, of Dillnians, will hear with regret of the death of their second son, Arthur, which took place at nine o’clock this morning after a very short illness. Deceased was a strong, active young man. and one of the principals of Watson and Sons, the well-known sawmillers of the £ unijar a district. It was only during race week in Hokitika that ho was renewing old asquaintances, he having served his apprenticeship as a blacksmith here some years ago. Deceased was a native of Hokitika, 43 years of age. His death was causod from pneumonia of only three or four days’ duration. The sympathy of the family, father and mother, sister and two brothers, are left to mourn his end.
