ANZAC GRAVES

QUESTION OF VISITORS. LONDON, Dec. 23. Uncertainty still exists regarding the possibility of the relatives of Australians visiting Gallipoli before the autumn, owing to the complete absence of hostels.

The question of their erection has been vigorously taken up by Airs Doughty Wvllie, widow of the Victoria Cross winner, who is buried on Gallipoli. Site is negotiating with the Y.M.C.A. to secure the erection of hostels forthwith. She hopes they will be leadv by Anzae Day, but this is doubtful. '

Members of the Australian Graves Staff who have returned from Gallipoli state that the road from Ghanak towards Anzae has been completed. There is also a proposition for a permanent concrete landing at Anzae Cove, but only bridle-paths are constructible towards most of the cemeteries, including Lone Pine Shrapnel Valley, Pluggo’s Plateau, and Brown’s Dip. The brigandage which was prevalent last spring has entirely ceased, and the gravesmen no longer require machineguns and other arms.
