A telegram from Lexington, Kentucky, states extraordinary scenes occurred at Maysville, Louisville, Carlisle and other cities in the State, when the tobacco crop was put on sale buyers offered only ten per cent of the 1920 prices. Tobacco that sold at 35 cents last yeair, brought three cents per pound. Farmers rioted and attacked the buyers. Feeling ran very high and th c authorities suspended all sales. 'Hie farmers immediately organised an independent market and the crop® were retained. Tobacco prices have not materially lowered.

He concluded that lie expected Japan would request the enactment of a Federal law naturalising present Japanese residents in United States. Such a. measure, however, would lie resisted to the utmost.
