Mr Lloyd George stated that documents were found in Sinn Fein leaders proving complicity in a German plot in 1918, and would be published in a few days. A new proclamation in the martial law area in Ireland compels all the householders, as from January Ist, to affix to the inner side of their street doors a list of all inmates, with their ages and other details. LONDON, Dec 24. Troops have raided the Carmelite Monastery in Aungier Street, Dublin. They discovered some revolvers and ammunition in the public room. The Father of the Monastery suggests the visitors left the revolvers there. There has been considrablo firing done in the streets of Dublin under cover of a fog. Troops have captured a Sinn Fein arsenal at Fepmoy. It contained 30 rifles, some bombs, ammunition and military equipment. A police patrol met a determined ambush at‘Tempters. Attackers awaited an opportunity for some days, and dug trenches across the road. They held up traffic. The patrol returned their fire. Two of those in the ambush fell. Raiders at Cork “Examiner” office broke the machinery with hammers and wrecked parts of the building with explosives. They then fired the property and escaped ■. before the arrival of the police. The fire was extinguished, but the other damage is extensive. The raiders, who wore plain clothes, said they were acting under orders of the Irish Republic. It is believed the attack was caused by the “Examiner’s” attitude towards the Bishop of Cork’s recent pastoral letter.
