TO-NIGHT I TO-NIGHT! This evening Taylor Holmes will be featured in an Essanay production entitled “A Pair of Sixes,” a scream in six’ reels, from the funniest stage play ever seen. The story of the funniest contract ever made. Two partners in a successful pill business—-both claimed the’success—they couldn’t agree—so the contract was born. Each one said of his partner that half the time he didn’t know what he was talking about, and the other half lie talked about what, he didn’t know. W-ell, I ask you, bow could they work in harmony? A poker hand decided the contract—the man who won was to run the business his way for a year, and the loser was to he bis valet and household servant —and the best hand was “a pair of sixes.” Then the fun started. Every time the loser was disrespectful it cost him SIOO, and if either of them, or the wife of the one party told, It would cost him $5,000.. The bill for disrespect soon mounted up, hut that’s not the worst—he had a girl, and she couldn’t be told the truth, so when she asked for explanations lie. couldn’t open his mouth —it would cost too much—and so the game went on. How he “put it over” his partner, estranged the wife, got the girl, and came out top-dog makes the funniest farcical comedy you’ve ever seen. It’s an. all-smile picture—a cure for the grouch—there’s not a dull moment —it’s a laughter-provoker from start to finish.
