THE £6,000,000 LOAN. WELLINGTON, Dec 17

“We have not got all that we asked for, but taking everything into consideration there is little reason for complaint or dissatisfaction,” said Mr Mnssev, when questioned as ta the progress made with floating the £6,000,00(5 loan. A very large proportion of tho money which came to han'd is from small investors, who are evidently satisfied with the country’s security with the rate of interest. Volurftary investments will he received until the end of the year, after which if the amount required is not reached it will be necessary to bring in the compulsory section, of the Act into operation.” A CHARGE REFUTED. WELLINGTON, December 18. Goneerning the complaint made in Auckland recently that certain proceedings in the supreme Court had been heard while the court room doors were locked, with the object of preventing newspaper reporters being present, the Minister of Justice stated yesterday that he had completed investigations into the allegations made. “It seems,” said Hon Lee, “the door for admittance-of counsel and litigants was on this occasion locked during the hearing, not intentionally, for it had remained inadvertently so from tho preceding sitting of the Court. It escaped the notice of the official in charge. The other two doors were, ’how ever, open giving free access during the sitting. The reporter mould have gained admission b.v the public entrance and fulfilled his functions if he attended at the time the case was being heard. As to the allegation of the Court orderly being sent, out and the key turned in tho lock, Jhat is emphatically denied by the Court officers. The Minister added that the sitting had been fixed in open court three days earlier.
