TIMBER SALES.
CHRISTCHURCH, Decemlier 15
In connection with tile sales of timber by auction, the Board of Trade lies been asked to give its ruling as to whether the building regulations respecting the sale of timber by timber merchants must apply. The Board has decided that purchasers of timber at auction must satisfy the auctioneer that the timber is needed in respect of building operations, for which jicrmits are held. It is understood that- when the headquarters of the Union Steamship Company are removed from Dunedin to Wellington that the registered office and directorate will remain in Dunedin. A CONFERENCE. Owing to the unsatisfactory development of work, the directors of Talisman Consolidated have decided with a view to tho curtailment of expenses, that the mine lie closed down as soon as the material in the underground workings can he withdrawn. This will probably take a few weeks. |
