IN IRELAND.
(itautw’i Talagrams.) , A CONFERENCE. LONDON, Dec. 9. It is reported that Archbishop Clune has had a further meeting with the Premier (Mr Lloyd George). It is understood that the Premier will make an important statement regarding Ireland, in the House of Commons to-day.
IRISH ARMY LEADER.
LONDON, Dec. 9,
Michael Collins, the head of the Irish Republican Army, whom the authorities were seekifig to arrest, and who was reported missing and feared to have been killed, is now reported to have given Dr Clune a message for the Premier.
It .is also recorded that Collins says the position is that Ireland has always wanted peace. If a truce we re offered the Irish, it would not be rejected, but they had not asked for it. .“The first essential,” lie said, “is the cessation of the English aggression.” It is now reported that the Premier .will announce the setting up of martial law in Ireland.
