£6,000 SAFE TAKEN. LONDON, Oct. 3. Daring and skilful thieves stole u safe and its contents, worth £6,000, from the premises of Messrs SI. Golodetz, textile traders, 140, Fenehurch-street, E.C., yesterday morning. So completely did they cover the traces of their exploit that although it is believed to have occurred early, it was discovered only when an employee of one of the firms that use the premises tried to open the front door at 0 o’clock. The Yale lock on the iron gate could not be opened with the key, and a locksmith had to be sent for. At least half a dozen thieves must have been at work Messrs Golodetz occupy the three upper floors of the building. There were two safes in the strong room, one of which contained little of any value, and this was left untouched. The safe taken contained iridium, gold, platinum, radium bromide, and Russian roubles, and weighed about 3 cwt. In getting the safe away, a strong glass panel on the second floor was broken. ’
