LOCAL NECESSITIES.
(To fHe Editor). Sir.—ScHool will close very soon how, and fciie pupils have hot had one swimming lesson, as llie baths are still in a neglected condition. Had they been cleaned etc.' the recent heavy rains would have purified them. ( Tile older boys will go to the river thereby causing anxiety to parents; t perhaps when the said river exacts a toll, the authorities will wake up. Then there is the Square. Surely Mr Butler’s generous gift, would cover the cost of a. couple of good swings; but nothing is done to make the place attractive, for the young, who then flock to the pictures, an unhealthy amusement to say the least. When the Borough want anything they do not hesitate to add to the taxes yet they hesitate to please the people. J am etc., t PARENT. Hokitika, ,I)ec. oth, 1920.
