Mr. Thomas, a member of the House of Commons addressing the railwaymen at Plymouth'declared there must be a radical improvement’in the condition of the working classes. He contended the most sensible way to accomplish it was through the ballot box, not a bloody upheaval. He declared his previous speech was misinterpreted and be did not intend it as a threat of ooming trouble. -

During a gale the thirteen thousand tonner Grawaldarsee broke away from her moorings at Southend. Six tugs towed her to Gravesend; where she again broke loose and ran ashore, after colliding with and sinking the two thousand ton collier Fairfield.
