AUSTRALIAN ATTITUDE. (Received This Day at 10.35 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 1
The “Evening Post’s” Geneva correspondent interviewed Mr Milieu who said that opinion in Australia is unalterable, so far as the Japanese are concerned. There can be no opportune moment in the future when we will think differently. Ishii has two things in mind, first, the recognition of racial equality and settlement of the dispute between Japanese and Australia and New Zealand concerning the nature of the mandate over the Pacific Islands. Japan in insisting that the mandates shall provide for Japanese immigration to those Islands we insist upon’ their exclusion.
MEXICAN UNREST. (Received This Day at 10.40 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 1.
The State Department has received reports of a large conspiracy against the new Mexican Government, coincident with the inauguration of President Alvaro Obregon, which is fixed for today.
