At the above yards on ’Monday- the entry comprised 70 head of cattle, the whole of which, with the exception of' two pens were prime quality The principal West Coast butchers were represented and competition though not quite so keen as the previous sale, waß fair throughout the fixture. Prime beef sold at late rates though there was an easing tendency for unfinished lots and in consequence the range of prices per hundred was somewhat elastic, running from 48/- to 58/-. Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. sold as follows:—On account Mr S. G. Ferguson, 3 bullocks, at £l6/12/6, 4 * at £l6/2/6,. 1 prime heifer £ls/7/6, 2 cows at £l2/17/6. On account Mr T. Watson, 1 bullock at £l7. On account Mr J. J. Mclntosh, 3 bullocks at £2l/5/-, 1 at £lB/7/6. On account Messrs I)o----novan Bros., 4 prime bullocks at £25/7/6, 3 at £24/15/-, . 4 at £23/15/-, 2 at £23/15/-, 1 at £23/5/-, 3 at £l9, 4 prime heifers at £ls/7/6, and 4 at £l3/12/6, 3 light weight heifers at £l2, 1 stag at £l3/10/-. On account Mr H. Karnbach, 2 bullocks at £l7, 3 at £l4/7/6, 1 light cow at £B. On account Mr J. Diedrich, 1 bullock at £lB/5/-, 3 at £l3/2/6, a light steer at £7/5/-, 1 prime cow at £ls/15/-, 4 heifers at £lO, 2 at- £B/12/6, 2 at £7/7/6. ■
At a meeting of the butchers attending the Arahura Yards held at the conul'usion of .Monday’s sale it was unanimously arranged that the Christmas fixture at these yards take place on Monday the 20th, December, instead of Boxing Day, that is to say the two sales for December will take place on • the 13th. and 20th, and at the latter fixture the yarding will be sufficiently large enough to allow of butchers obtaining a three weeks’ supply to carry them over the Christmas and New Year Holidays.
KOKATAHI SALE. At the above yards yesterday, Messrs Jeffries and Co held a small sale of cattle, 77 head being penned. There was a representative attendance of buyers and while competition was fairly brisk sales reflected the general fall in store cattle which has been anticipated consequent on the fall in hides, hut notwithstanding this the whole yarding with the exception of one line was sold
On account of A. Vrobliski, 2 yearling heifers at £2 10s, 3 yearling steers at £2 10s, 1 stag at £6 10s. On account of Mr P. Jones 1 springer at £B, 2 at £lO, 1 dry cow at £3 ss, 1 aged cow and calf at £5 2s 6d. On ac. count of Mr S. Havill 12 two-year steers at £8 12s. 6d, 1 springer at £lO, 1 heifer at £8 12s 6d. On account of Mr M. Wallace, 17 yearlings at £3. On account of Mr J. Dimmick, 1 vealer at £4, 1 springer at £B. On account of Mr R. Mullholland, 1 dry cow at £6, 1 eighteen months heifer at £4, 6 two year steers at £7.
