A marvellous escape from an accident that might have terminated with serious consequences, occurred at Bewanui on Friday morning. A boy named Bobby Steele, was delivering some goods on horse back to the residents on the Hill, from the Co-operative Store, and when he was crossing one of the bridges it collapsed, precipitating the hoy and horse into the creek, 30 feet below. Luckity the boy was thrown clear of the horse, hut still had the misfortune to get his foot injured breaking two small bones. The boy was found sometime after the mishap by Mr Kelly, who taking the boy to his camp, rendered first aid and made the little sufferer as comfortable as possible till further assistance came along to carry the boy to Runanga to get medical treatment.
