THE SCENE IN COMMONS(Received This Day at 1.0. p.nu) LONDON, Nov. 22. In the Commons after Sir Hama Greenwood’s detailed statement regai ding Dublin murders whioh made a deep impression on the crowded house, Mr Devlin attempted to speak but members angry and excited shouted him down. Answering a private question, Hon. Lloyd George said he shared the general horror at these cold blooded murders, but Government was convinced despite liecent occurrences, that the Irish authorities were gradually breakin gthe gangs of assassins. If experience showed that Government powers were insufficient, he would ask the House for further powers.
Mr Devlin, amid shouts of “sit down” asked why nothing was said about the appearance of military forces on the football field, and indiscriminate shooting, in which ten were killed. This question was followed bly renewed shouts of “sit down” (Received this day at 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 22. Mr Devlin retorted “I wont.”
Sir Hamar Greenwood said he was prepared to answer the question. Mr Devlin however again rose and continued standing until Major Molson, who was sitting behind, seized Devlin round the neck and attempted to drag him over the bench.
An ugly scene ensued, Devlin struggling violently. Another member attempted to put Devlin in his seat when a number of Labour members head'd by Jack Jones, went to Dert'.n’s assistance. During the height of -the struggle Devlin was heard shouting “Is this English courage, English chivalry, six hundred attacking one man.” Members got between Devlin •nd Molson, but seeing the scene was high ly threatening the Speaker rose and suspended the sitting, and said he will notify the House when the sitting will bo resumed.
