A prohibition order was granted against a local resident on the application of a relative. WANDERING CATTLE. Walter Thomson, County Ranger, (Mr Park) v. A. Male, a charge of allowing three calves to frander on the Hokitika-Roßs road. Convicted and fined 10s and costs 7s, counsel’s fee 10s 6d. Same v. R. P. Davies, 1 horse, 'convicted and fined 10s, costs 7s, and counsel’s fee 10s 6d. Same v. James Kelly 4 calves on Takutai road. Convicted and fined Is and costs 7s and counsel’s fco 10s 6d. Same v. C. WilloUghby; 3 cbfrs eh Woodstock road. Convicted and fined 10s and costs 7s, counsel’s fee 10s 6d. Same v. Wm Cooper, 1 calf on Ilo-ldtika-Ross road. Defendant stated he did not own any calf. Mrs Cooper gave evidence that the calf was hers. Charge dismissed, 4s costs being allowed AV. Cooper. A DEFENDED CASE. The Police charged F. A. Winter, acting licensee of Woodstock hotel frith supplying liqUoh after hours and with allowing liquor to Jxl consumed after hours. Two residents of Rimu wefe also charged with being on the premises during prohibited hours. Mr Murdoch appeared for the defendants nhd pleaded ndt guilty. Constable Eveitdeti gave evidence of having Visited the Woodstock Hotel at 9.5 p.iii. on 30th. October. Went :•) to the billint’d VoOin and saw. two men frith glasses in their hands. The licensee was ih the room. One t>f ihc men said he had come ih to get a beer. No other remarks had befen made at that time. Since then Mr Winter bad stated that the drihks, two shandies had been gifts. Defendant (U. A. Winter) gave evidence that as the result of a frivol- clohfc he had invited the two men into htV.fi> a drink and they were having it vlicn CoUstable Eveh'don c ame in. Mis Worship said he had ito reason to doubt the licensee’s evidchce and the two charges against him would he dismissed. The other two charges jf being unlawfully oh the premises would be dismissed.
