At 2.30 in the afternoon the ordinary monthly meeting of the Council will be held to deal with general business, and at 3.30 o’clock the statutory meeting will be held to deal witli the annual balance sheet for 1020. Mr Wm. Wilson who has been on a health trip to America, arrived l ack in Hokitika on Tuesday evening. His many friends are glad to know that Air AVilso'n returns in greatly improved health, and have extended a warm welcome back again. At the meeting of the AVestland 'Land Board yesterday afternoon the Commissioner took the opportunity of expressing the Board’s pleasure at Mr Wilson being back again. Mr T. Hogan, who has been stationed recently at Rewanui, has been appointed stationmaster at Ngahere. At Rewanui on Tuesday evening a sendoff was given Mr and Airs Hogan. In making the presentation on behalf of the residents, Air Werner said he felt sure every one present was sorry to hear of Air and Airs Hogan’s departure, and said- they could ill-afford to lose such valuable citizens, but what would be Rewanui’s loss would be Ngahere’s gain. Tho funeral of the late Air Ernest Hatch took place yesterday afternoon and was very largely attended. Roquiem mass was celebrated at St. Alary’s Church yesterday morning at 10 o’clock the funeral moving from the church at 2.30 p.m. The Rev Father Eccleton conducted the service at the gravside. A "firing party of Returned Soldiers under Sergt Major Walker of Greymouth fired three volleys and the “Last Post” was sounded by Bugler. Ross. The Town Band headed the procession.
