SINN FEIN AND FRANCE

LONDON, Sept. 9. ) A few days ago the London papers published telegrams from Paris, which stated that Mr Garun Duffy, “Sinn Fein Ambassador” to France, had beeu ordered to quit the country. The particular offence alleged against him was that he had written to M, Millerapd, asking him to do what be could to secure the release of Mr McSweeney, the hungerstriker in Brixton prison. M. Millernnd intimated to Mr Duffy that lie fijlist cease bis anti-British propaganda 'in France, or be would be expelled from the country. Instead of waiting that result. Mr Duffy went off to Brussels, and according to the latest news, he is still living there. Sinn Fein propaganda has been much more active in Paris, than British propaganda. Mr Duffy is understood to have had a hand in this work. At any rate, when that gentleman left Paris for Brussels, several of the French newspapers protested against the action of M. Millerand. The “Temps” contrasted his zeal to serve the British Government with De Valera and his henchmen in the United States. Seme of the Sinn Feiners in Ireland tlireaten reprisals fpr the treatment of Mr Duffy. They talk of deporting the French Consul in Dublin, and one or two vice-consuls.
