PUKEKAWA MURDER
Vltu PPKHB ASSOCIATION. — OOPYMIuarAUCKLAND, Nov. 17. This morning, William Haszard, a gun merchant stated in evidence that ho examined. Phil Eyre’s gun on Aug. 25th. His opinion. was that it had not been fired for a month. When he looked at accused’s gun on August 30th, he found both barrels had been fired some time previously, the left barrel more recently. Both barrels had been cleaned. The right had apparently been cleaned a second time. The left had a black substance in' it, it not having been thoroughly cleaned. He believed it had been fired again a week or ten days. Peter’s cartridges in the gun case contained No 6 nnd No 7 shot. His firm supplied that kind of cartridges to Mrs Eyre for the accused at one time. The shot found in the deceased’s head was Np 7 shot in weight.
