POLLARD’S PICTURES. A • STORY OF ROD RUSSIA TO-NIGHT. “The New Moon” a Select Picture starring Norma Talmadge and telling a story /6f Red Russia will he Pollard’s star pictuire in to-night’s diisplay. “The New Moon” is a story of Russian life as alleged to-day and of men and women, aristocrats and peasants, freedom and bondage, love and laughter, hate and tears. A beautiful Russian Princess disguises herself as a peasant girl, while she seeks protection from them that rule the town. When the women of the country are ordered to ' register so as to be nationalised, she leads them to revolt. • This is evidently pure propaganda. Miss Norma Talmadge as the Princess Pavlovna, is given an excellent opportunity to display that remarkable versatility for which she has become famous. As the Russian Princess she is proud, beautiful and gorgeously dressed. Later, as a peasant girl, in coarse ill-fitting clothes and shawled head she lends atmosphere and realism tcTthe role. Big supporting subjects will also be screened. “THE MIRACLE MANY WEDNESDAY NEXT. On Wednesday next International Attractions will present the greatest of all screen plays, “The Miracle Man” featuring two famous artists in Tlios. Meighan and Betty Compson. “The Miracle Man” is a powerful picturisation of George Ilf. Cohan’s celebrated drama of flesh and blood men and women, sinning, struggling loving, rising from the underworld into the light. It drives ahead with action that grips and holds, but it is softened with humour so true that it laughs with all mankind, so deep that it starts the tears. It is a story of lost souls found, but it is not propaganda in any sense of the word, neither lias it any creed save that of humanity. It is not a. religious picture. Its charm is irresistible, its passion is masterful, it instils in the mind a new and deeper sense of kinship with humanity and a deeper understanding of the spiritual forces of existence. The supreme heights of the drama are reached as it portrays the silent conquering of hardened wills, the. physical and spiritual regeneration of those who had sought to debase and exploit the loftiest instincts of humanity. No detail that could add conviction to a wonderful story lias been omitted. Prices—Circle and front stalls 2/1; back stalls 1/1. Reserve at Misses Mclntosh.
