GALLNTRY AT A WRECK
LONDON, Sept. 26. . A call ant rescue effort marked the sinking of tlie Weymouth motor-trawler Seagull while attempting to make V est Bay Harbour, Bridport, Dorset, on Thursday night. The Seagull was driven by heavy seas oii to a stone pier and sank immediately. • Three persons were in the boa Mr Jack No rthover, part owner; Mr Richard BonhoW Price, engineering contractor, of Bath; and the latter’s twelve years old hoy. Although the -seas were breaking over both piers, Captain J. Roper, of the Dorset Territorials and son of a, Bridport solicitor, gallantly dived to the rescue and released the hoy,, who was entangled in the wreckage. c with him to the pier, where he lost hold of him, hut a mountainous wave carried the boy to the level of the pier, where lie was pulled to safety. A boat was lowered in an attempt o rescue liis father and Nortliover. A lino was got round Mr Trice but he was dead when brought ashore. Northovers body was recovered last night. At the inquest a. verdict of accidental drowning was returned, and the coroner complimented Captain Roper on his gallantry.
