[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.] TOE, COUNCIL. The Legislative Council met at 11 a.m. The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill was read a second time. The Council adjourned till 2.30 p.m. THE HOUSE. The House met at noon. Mr McLeod asked the Premier if he would ask the British Government to release the New Zealand meat from control in view of the possible low prices for wool and other colonial produce. If decontrol could not bo obtained, would the Prime Minister endeavour to got control of meat prices in Britain fixed more nearly on a line of British prices which were much high, er. Mr Massey said lie realised the importance of this matter and would get into communication with the High Commissioner as early as possible. The Government Life Insurance Act, 1908, Amendment Bill, and Cook Islands Act, 1915 Amendment Bill were introduced by Governor General s message find read a first time. Hon Coates explained the Insurance Eill was designed to remedy defects in the present law relating to industrial insurance. All policies in this department would be brought under purview of the Governor General in Council. The object was to enable Government to gain experience during the next year on which to base a new Bill next session, to control industrial insuiance. Everything possible would be done to prevent the lapsing of policies.
