MR ASQUITH’S VIEWS ~ LONDON, Nov. 6, Right Hon Asquith, speaking at Cardiff, pointed out the Government’s wilful perversion of his proposal to Ii eland Dominion Home Rule, with her own navy. This was part of Dominion Home Rule. He has never suggested, as alleged, that Ireland should equip herself with flotillas of submarines and destroyers which might be a constant menace to Britain. “It is not probable, - ” lid says, “that Irish statesmen would squander any of Ireland’s meagre resources on a navy at all. Even if they ill-advisedly did so, her navy must always be subject to restriction similar to those imposed on tho Dominions’ navies, and it must be also transferred bodily to the Admiralty’s control in the time of war. FURTHER REPRISALS. ' LONDON, Nov. 6. An unconfirmed report states seventeen “black and tan soldiers” were killed in the. Ballinalee disturbance, ! An affray occurred at Edgeworth Town, , between the Crown military forces and j some Irish volunteers. Two of the former were killed, and a number wounded. The reprisals then followed. In Longford also several houses were burned. Sinn Feiners attacked a coast guard station near Skibboreen, killing a marine and wounding two dangerously.
