CENTRAL RIDING. COUNTY OF WESTLAND. \ TO THE ELECTORS, Ladies and Genti/emen. I desire to tlianl? the electors of the Rimu 'Riding for their past confidence and. Leg to state to the electors of Kanicri, Kokatahi, and Rimu Ridings that I am now a candidate for their united support as a member of the Central Riding of the County of Westland. If honored with your confidence I shall endeavor to serve you to my best ability by attending regularly to the public business before the County Council, and watching your interests in all matters affecting the district as a whole. I solicit your support and interest on Polling day, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th., and beg to subscribe myself, Yours .at command, E. A. WELLS. Woodstock, November let. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE SOUTHERN RIDING. ‘ LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, AT the request of many of the .'atepoyers, I have decided to become a candidate at the forthcoming County Election for the position of one of : the representatives of the Southern Riding. .. . 1 My long and continuous residence in the Southern district has given me a | thorough knowledge of its resources and requirements. 1 I recognise that the completion of the Otira Tunnel joining Westland with ( Canterbury makes it absolutely necessary that a vigorous Public Works policy by both Government and County should be undertaken in order that ( the remoter districts should receive the ; fullest benefit from that work. The bridging of all rivers from the ( Wniho South should be a cardinal feature in that policy. The extension of the Ross Railway and the improvement of shipping faciliteß at Okaritc, Rruce Bay, Okuru and Jackson’s Bay are all necessary for the development of the land timber and flax of South Westland. For many years I have taken a keen interest jn the development of that district and in this connection. I find that without some constituted standing individual effort has little or wo effect. I do not seek election for personal aggrandisement or gain, but feel that I ° should place the close and pTactieal knowledge of the district what I possess at the services of the electors. If you do me the honour to elect me I shall use--'my best endeavours to as-j Bist the progress and development of | South Westland op the lines indicated above. I have the honour to remain, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your obedient Servant, JOHN RITCHIE. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CENTRAL RIDING. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN : AT THE REQUEST of a number of ratepayers, I havo consented to contest a seat for the Central Riding of tlio Westland County Council at the forthcoming election. As a resident and ratepayer of many years standing, I claim to "be fully conversant with the requirements of the district, and if honoured with your confidence, will at all times do my utmost to advance the interests of the Riding in particular, and the County generally. While desirous of curtailing any useless expenditure, I am in favour of a more progressive policy in regard to improved road construction, and would give ,ny earnest attention to the better maintenance of traffic bridges throughout the Riding. The deplorable Istate if many of our smaller bridges and culverts, I consider, warrants more durable material being used in their reconstruction. If elected I will do my best to assist all classes of industry and any matter coming before the Council for the betterment of Westland generally will receive my support. In conclusion, I trust to merit your interest and support on (wiling day. I have the honour to he. Your obedient' Servant, F, H. MONK, Koiterangi. OF HAPPINESS by return registered mail. The essence of all knowledge is self knowledge. Send birth date, month, year, and postal note 5/- to Mr T. J. Hups tone, Bqx 1418, Auckland,
