( J. W. THOMSON Okarito, November 4th. ; WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL. f ! TO THE ELECTORS OF THE 1 CENTRAL RIDING. | LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I AM A CANDIDATE for year support at the present election for County honors. As representative of the Kanieri Riding, I have endeavour- , ed to do my duty with the object of serving the district to the best advantage. My business takes me frequently into various parts of the district, and I shall not fail to observe your requirements, nor neglect to attend to them. I realise that the work of tlie Council is expending with the progress of the district, and it will be my best endeavor to servo you with the common object of advancing the district as a whole if again favored with your confidence —which has been such an honor to me in the pa^t. Yours Obediently, T. R. CHESTERMAN. Kanieri, November 3rd., 1920. CENTRAL RIDING. COUNTY OF WESTLAND. TO THE ELECTORS, Lamks and Gentlemen. I desire to thank the electors of the Rimu Riding for their past confidence and .beg to state to the electors of Kanieri, Kokatahi, and Rimu Ridings that I am now a candidate for their united support as a member of the Central Riding of the County of Westland. If honored with your confidence I shall. endeavor to serve you to my best ability by attending regularly to the public business before the County Council, and watclring your interests in all matters affecting the district as a whole. I solicit your support and interest on Polling day, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th., and beg to subscribe myself, Yours at command, E. A. WELLS. Woodstock, November Ist. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE SOUTHERN RIDING. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, AT the request of many of the ratepayers, I have decided to become a candidate at the forthcoming Coun- . ty Election for the position of one of the representatives of the Southern Riding. My long and continuous residence in the Southern district has given me a thorough knowledge of its resources ( and requirements. I recognise that the completion of the Otira Tunnel joining Westland with Canterbury makes it absolutely recessary that a vigorous Public Works policy by both Government and County should be undertaken in order that the remoter districts should receive the fullest benefit from that work. 1 The bridging of nil rivers from the Waiho South should bo a cardinal feature in that policy. The extension of ! the Ross Railway and the improvement ] of shipping facilites at. Okaritc, 2rv.ee Bay, Okuru and Jackson’s Bay are all necessary for the development of the land timber and flax of South Westland. / For many years I have taken a keen interest in the development of that district and in this connection. I find that without some constituted standing individual effort has little or no effect. I do not seek election for personal aggrandisement or gain, but feel that I should place the close and practical knowledge of the district what I possess at the services of the electors. If you do me the honour to elect meT shall use my best endeavours to assist the progress and development of South Westland on the lines indkated above. I have the honour to remain, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your obedient Servant, JOHN RJTCHIE. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CENTRAL RIDING. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: AT THE REQUEST of a number of ratepayers, J have consented to contest a seat for the Central Riding of th 0 Westland County Council at the forthcoming election. As a resident and ratepayer of many years standing, I claim to be fully conversant with the requirements of the district, and ;f honoured with your confidence, will at all times do my utmost to advance Uie interests of the Riding in particular, and the County generally.. AVhile desirous of curtailing any useless expenditure, I am in favour of a more progressive policy in regard to improved mad construction, and would give my earnest attention to the better maintenance of traffic bridges throughout the Riding. The deplorable Istate t f many of our smaller bridges and culverts, I consider, warrants more durable material being used in their reconstruction. If elected I will do my best to assist all classes of industry and any matter coming before the Council for the betterment of Westland generally will receive my support. In conclusion, I trust to merit vour interest and support on polling day. I have the honour to be, Your obedient Servant, H. H. MONK, Koiterangi. WANTED— Smart BOY, must be able to ride a bicycle.
