Mclntosh (Mr Wells) renewal of. watey ralee license. —Granted. R. Mackley, for coal lease Koiterangi.—Adjourned for survey. N. McNiool, prospecting license, Ross.—Granted. C. Black (Mr Murdoch) hand sawing and timber splitting license, Ross— Granted. H. P. Lewis (Mr Murdoch) ordinary prospecting license, Ross. —Granted. Gardiner and party, license for sawmill and timber reservation, Ross.— Granted. W. R. Kettle, renewal of license. Mr Park for Crown (the objector) asked that the order be refused. This was agreed to, the question of costs being held over. This was a case in which the Kumara Junction hotel was alleged to be on the railway reserve, and a Supreme Court case went in favour of the Crown. R.. Mackley, for coal prospecting warrant, Koiterangi.—Adjourned. disputed application.

W. H. Bob ins on (Mr Wells) timber reservation. Objection by Whiley Ltd. (Mr Murdoch). Whiley Sawmills 'Ltd., (Mr Murdoch) for sawmill license. Objection by W. H. Robinson (Mr Wells). These two applications covered practically the same ground. The question in dispute being of priority in pegging and the lodging of the application Mr Murdoch in the course of his opening held that a sawmill license was a. mining right while a timber reservation was not a mining privilege. R. Whiley gave evidence of Having marked out the area on 6th. October at 6 p.m. In answer to Mr Wells he j stated) there were only two'pegs in Crown j lands and one peg in Mr Chesterman's , property. Permission to peg in oortion of Chesterman’s land was handed in. After .argument the Warden reserved his decision in Whiley Ltd. application, the application of W. H. Robinson being withdrawn, counsel intimating his inability to produce evidence of pegging.
