nomination day. At noon to-day nominations closed for the office of Councillors and members of several local bodies comprised within the County of Westland. The following were received and duly posted WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL. northern riding. This 'Riding lias been created by the amalgamation of the former Di,limans, Stafford, and Arahura Ridings. 'Hie retiring members, Messrs J. A. Murdoch, T. W. Duff, and B. Ward, offered themselves for election, and have been returned again without opposition. The three gentlemen have served the public on the Westland County Council for several years. They are to be congratulatcr on being returned unopposed'. CENTRAL RIDING. The Central Riding is formed by the ■union of the former, Kanieri, Kokatahi, and Rimu Ridings. In addition to the sitting members, Messrs Chesterman, Morel and E. A. W ells, Mr H. 11. Monk,- a Koiterangi settler (who is also a returned soldier) is a candidate for election, so that a poll will bo necessary. This is fixed to take olace on Wednesday of next week between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. SOUTHERN RIDING. The Southern Riding has been constituted by the amalgamation of the.Totara, Okarito, and Okurir Ridings. Of the sitting members, Mr S. G. Ferguson is not offering himself for reelection,- but Dir T. W r . Bruce, and the Hon. J. Grimmond, are candidates againj. In addition Messrs W r . H. Chinn (Tetaho), W. Jeffries (Hokitika), J. Ritchie (Hokitika), and W. Searle (Hari Hari) are candidates. The necessary poll has been fixed for Wednesday of next week at the usual hours,‘ Mr W.Gunn of Wataroa will be the Substitute •Returning Officer for this contest. The papers in connection with th e poll will be despatched south tomorrow or Wednesday.
WEjSTLAND IHLECTRIC-POWER BOARD. The following have been nominated: —Messrs Thomas W. Bruce; William J. Butler; Thomas R. Chestermari; Thomas W. Duff, Louis H. Morel, James A. Murdoch, Richard F. Pm-ham Bernard Ward, Eilisha A. Wells. The above constitute tli e number required and will be declared elected. HOKITIKA HARBOR BOARD. The Westland County District within the ‘Harbor area- is entitled to two members, and. Messrs Malcolm H. Houston, and Charles ,T. Nightingale have been nominated. Mr Cf. H. Chapman, who was on the Board, formerly, has not offered himself for re-election. WESTLAND CHARITABLE AID BOARD. Six representatives were called for to represent the Westland County on the Charitable Aid Board, and the following were nominated, and will be declared elected, a poll not being necessary: —Messrs W. H. Chinn, G. Davidson, Harry H. Monk, Louis H. Morel. John Ritchie, Wm. Searle.
