Thoughts For The Times.
Goon and Better Hoads. Jefferson County, Alabama, by a vote of 9 to 1 recently ratified a loan of five million dollars for good roads. . Good highways are essential to the improvement of our transportation and facilities should be afforded at any cost. For lack of good facilities for transport, industry slows down, production is delayed, waste is increased. Relative necessity rather than price should dictate the decision of our spending now-a-days when so much turns on the need for ready transport.—American Opinion.

i 'Considerable interest prevails south ; among graziers and stock in connection with the entries of fat stock to . be offered at Arahura yards on Monday i next. It is stated that the entries for i that fixture are the primest and heavj iest that have ever entered i the sale yards. A Canterbury grazier who returned from- south this morning passed these cattle on his way back and is emphatic in his opinion that no better quality bullocks could lie seen at the Metropolitan Yards, Ad. dington, including show cattle.
