POLLARD’S PICTURES.
BES9UE HAYAKAWA—MONDAY. On Monday next Pollard’s will screen a big Haworth masterpiece starring the great Japanese actor Sessue Hayakawa and In's dainty wife Tsuru Aoki in “The Courageous Coward.” The story of a little Japanese 'beauty who wanted to become a real American girl. She falls into wrong hands and so begins a tale of East and W.est a drama of i brills and romance, and. a play with 'a lovely ending, Tsuru Aoki, is wholly delightful as the Japanese girl—as in all her interpretatsion she is real. On Wednesday next Pollards will show the charming child actress, Madge Evans in her latest success “A Home Wanted” produced by the World Film Coy.
McLEAN’S PICTURES. TO-NIGHT! TO-NIGHT 1 This evening at 8 o’clock Mr McLean presents a double star programme. The first star shows Bert Lytell in “The Lion’s Den,” a story of strong human emotions, from the pen of Frederick Odin Bartlett, published in the Saturday. Evening Post.” The plot tells of a young clergyman who wishes to build a dub for the boys of his flock and keep them from the pool rooms and street corners where they spend their time. The parish is a poor one, however, and the necessary funds are lacking. His appeal to tho more wealthy members of his congregation for donations it? unsuccessful, and he determines to earn tho money himself. ■\yith this object in view, he enters the “lion’s den of commerce.” How, with tho help of the loyal boys, he gains success, and how in the end the cold hearts of the wealthy open to his scheme, are incidents which make a, pla,V of powerful appeal. There are also moments of whimsical .humor, which all who know Mr Lytcll jpok for in his work. The beautiful romance which ends the story is a shining reward for his efforts for the welfare of others. The play is one which stirs the highest emotions of the Iranian heart. The 7 second star is William S. Hart’s new Artcruft picture “The Money Corral.” This-is one of the best photoplays in which Mr Hart has been seen for many a day. It is announced that in the making of the big rodeo scenes for this film,jail tho cow-girls, punchers, Indians and Mexicans within a hundred miles came to take part in the that required fast riding, shooting, rop_ rag etc. ■ Bill Hart is prominent in these scenes himself. Later tho story takes the principal characters to Chicago. and the western hero is introduced to the underworld crooks.
