[AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 27. , The first stage of the King’s Prize saw a record entry of 945 marksmen. Despite a tricky wind and variable light, the shooting was good. A fair number of possibles was made at the respective ranges 300, 500 and 600 yards. The winner of the first leg was Sea lie of Victoria, with a score of 102. (Received This Day at 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 28. ; In the first stage of the King’s prize shooting at the Rifle Association meeting, Masefield got every shot home at 500yds. and led at 600yds. with 33 out of 35, but he could not hold the bull. Searle, the winner, put on two thirtyfours at 500 and 600, and added another at the next range, bringing his total to 102 out to 105. Roots scored 99 and won £5. Masefield 98 won £4. In conjunction with the first stage of the King’s'prize ,a twelve aside match was fired, in which the Now 'Zealand team beat Sydney by 1,122 to 1,121.
