HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD
THURSDAY, October 23th The- Board met at noon. Present— Messrs It. Wild (Chairman), J. J. Breeze, S. Evans and C. J. Nightingae. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and the outward correspondence approved,
INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Guinness and Kitchingliam on behaf of lie Totara Sawmill Ltd., for ptirmisston to ,’aiy tramway through portion of section of which the Board is the registered owner.—After discussion it was resolved to inform Messrs Guinness and Kitchingliam that die Board had no control over the property mentioned. It was also resolved that from information received that Messrs Butler Riros lie asked to try to come to some amicable arrangement re tramway crossing, as between Messrs Butler Bios, and the Totara. Sawmill Company. From Anderson's Ltd., Christchurch, .giving list of machinery in stock.—Received. From Department of 'Public Health, asking for description >of quarantine ground if any.—Received. From Dunedin Council re conference with Boards on subject of borrowing by local authorities.—Received. From Harbours Association, re Land and Income Tax Bill.—Received From Park and Murdoch re rates on a deceased person’s estate. —Raeeivod. From W. Stewart,. Masterton, re transfer of property in Bealey Street. —Received.
From Mts C. Keller, re irrears in rates, —Received and attended to. From Marine Department, asking for copies of accounts for presentation to parliament. —Received and attended to. From 'Audit Office, asking for copies of Board’s balance sheet.—Received. From Mrs 'B. Richards, Ross, explaining payment of rates.—Received. From Messrs Butler Bros, re rates. explaining the position in detail; also answering the Secretary’s application for rates. —Received. The accounts presented totalling £287 14s 2d were passed for payment. The Treasurer reported .payment; £4B 16s lid; Receipts £352 14s fid; Bank credit £44 4s sd; cash in hand £27/2-2. —Received. A short discussion toolyl place on the condition of the northern traming wall, which is in a bad state of repair Owing to the lack of funds no action was aken It was also reported that the river was showing a. tendency to sweep into its old river bed down past the wharf, which will he much appreciated by one and all. The meeting then adjourned.
