SECOND DAY/ The wet weather of Sunday night promised to militate against the success of fhe second days trots, hut fortunately the weather cleared in time not to mar seriously the progress of the sport. The only draw-back was a boisterous easterly wind which while it had a good effect of drying the ground, made the conditions rather uncomfortable for those on the Park. The wind was so violent at times as to threaten tho the wrecking of the refreshment tent, and about 4 o’clock in the afternoon the tent had to be taken down. The at_ tendance was large and the sport excellent. Tho events were all well contested, land investors operated freely, and the lucky ones bad good returns in several events. Over £I2,(XX) went through the machine for the day, or nearly £23,000 for the meeting, which was a substantial advance in last year’s turn over at the October meeting.
