A try-out match, in view of the visit of the English cricketers, was held yesterday between teams captained by Collins and Macartney. Rain interfered with play in the middle of the afternoon, but on the whole the display was poor, showing that many players are short of practice. Collinses team lost seven wickets for 159 KeHeway, Collins and Bardsley being’ all font for “ducks.” J. M. Gregory had to he content with two runs only. The batsmen who showed form were the “not outs,” Taylor 95, and Oldfield 55. Hendry took three wickets for 55, and Dr Trenerry four for 47.
