A very pretty and interesting wedding was solemnised at All Saints’ Church Hokitika on Tuesday Oct. 12th., bu the Rev. Dr Holloway, when Miss Kitty Douglas, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs P. Douglas of Waitaha was united in bonds of holy matrimony to Herbert, third son of the late Mr and Mrs Hende of South Westland. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a brocaded silk dress, with silver bead and silk fringe trimming. She also wore the orthodox wreath and veil and carried a shower bouquet of white azaleas and flag-lilies. She was attended by sister Miss Nellie Douglas as bridgesmaid who wore a white silk dress relieved with touchos of shell pink and

silk tassels. She wore a pink picture hat and also carried a shower bouquet. Her little sister Lily acted, as flowergirl and was dressed in white silk with touches of shell-pink, while Mr J. Forrest of the Railway Department, Greymouth, ably carried out the duties of best man. A After the wedding ceremony the party adjourned to Preston’s tea rooms where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of and the usual toasts duly honoured. The bride.rroom’s presents to the bride and brides maid were gold and pearl pendants, and the bride to the bridegroom a set of military brushes. Mr and Mrs Hende then left by the evening train for Greymouth, en route to Wellington, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride travelled in a navy tailored costume and hat to match.
