Tlie Goldfields and Mines committee fecoihhiends to-day—‘'mat jn view of the fact that Companies are respdiisible for tile failure to carry out the provisions of Mining Amendment Act, 19i9 (requiring .the use of water drills), tlie Committee is of opinion that mineowners should pay th? miners wages for the time they have been idle, in cases where the miners ceased work for the purpose of securing compliance with the requirements of the Act.” Tlie Prime Minister remarked that the House had no jurisdiction at all ill, -the matterf. This kind of resolution of the Committee was- merely nil,expression of opinion.
