MR WATT’S CHARGES
OF MILK AND WATER NATURE. AUSTRALIAN & N.E CaBLE ASSOCIATION] (Received this day at 8 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 21. I The House was crowded to hear Mr Watts’ statement regarding bis resignation from the Ministry and his official position in London. A section of the Labourites attempted to block it in order to proceed with the discussion on Mr Tudor’s censure motion, but on the. motion of Mr Hughes, the standing, orders were suspended for Mr Watt to make his statement, which amounted to an elaboration of published London cables and the reading of cables on the subject which passed between Dir Hughes arid Mr Watt. It is confirmatory that Mr Watt’s resignation was a protest against Mr Hughes practically overriding him in the wool sale negotiations, with which his special riiissiori to. London was associated. Mr Watt severely criticised Mr Hughes’ methods, which he claimed had resulted in Hie loss of hundreds of thousands of pounds. At the same time he disclaimed that ha bad returned to ventilate personal grievances or to pursue a vendotta against Mr Hughes.
