■V (Reuter’s Telegram.) IRISH AFFAIRS. LONDON, October 19. In answer to a series of questions in the House of Commons regarding Ireland, Sir Hamar Greenwood said since the New Year one hundred police and eighteen soldiers had been killand 160 police and sixty ’ six soldiers i wounded., 667 attacks had been made on barracks. The Government methods for coping with the outrages were steadily iimproving. The Irish constabulary was steadily increasing owing to the recruiting of ex-officers and ex-soldiers.. Mr Shortt declined to release McSweeney, and said the prison authorities administered no food. Hon. Bona,r Law said the Government intended proceeding with the Home Rule Bill. Mr Malone interjected—ln the meantime is it the Government policy to continue the campaign of murder and reprisals (Coalition uproar). Hon. Bonar Law—lt is the policy of the Government in th e meantime to put down murder and outrage." (Coalition cheers.) FITZGERALD OBSEQUIES. LONDON, Oct. 20. During the Requiem Mass at Cork for the dead Sinn Fein hunger striker, Michael Fitzgerald, a military officer drew a revolver, and with a file of armed soldiers, approached the altar. He then warned the Canon who celebrated Mass that not more than a hundred persons would he allowed to follow the coffin to the grave. Later the officer megaphoned to the crowd, stating that he had orders to fire if this order were disobeyed. He stated he intended to use such force if he found it necessary. The crowd complied with the demand.
