(Reuter’s Telegram.) SUGAR PRICES. (Received this day at 9-iiO a.m.) OTTAWA, Oct. 15. 11 Government to-night suspended the Board of Commerce order enacting the price of granulated sugar at 21 cents per pound, pending a hearing before the Government-in-Council on Oct. 20th. Premier Meiglien stated to-night that the order will doubtless be finally rescinded. AMERICAN ATTITUDE. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 15. United States Government will not recognise any treaty between Poland and Bolsheviks ,which undertakes to dispose of Russian authority without .the consent of the Russian people, which must be expressed through a representative Government, recognised by United States. It is expected the State Department will notify Poland to this effect. CUBAN FINANCIAL CRISIS. NEW YORK, Oct. 14. President Menocal ,of Cuba, has in-j formally suggested to the United States : State Department that the American j financial and sugar interests should cooperate to relieve Club’s financial crisis I by moving the Island’s sugar crop. UGLY BOXING RUMOURS. (Received this day, at 9.30 a.m.) NEW YORK Oct. 15. New Jersey State boxing Commission decided tentatively to investigate the Carpentier-Levinsky fight, to quiet rumours published in New York papers alleging the bout was faked. Carpentier indignantly denies the insinuation and asks for a sqliare deal. He pledges his honour as a soldier of France that he fought to the best of his ability. Levinsky also made a statement denying that he lay down. He said he never recovered from a blow in the second round. The New Jersey boxing commission believe the fight was fair, but is desirous of giving the authors of the insinuations an opportunity to submit evidence if they have any. New York Boxing Commission granted Carpentiers license to box in this state. AMERICAN POLITICS. NEW YORK Oct. 14. 31 prominent Americans have issued a statement explaining their position in the polities comnnign. All advocated soine form of international agreement to preserve peace. The statement says “We have reached' the conclusion that the true course to bring United States into an effective league is by frankly calling on other nations, to agree to changes in the proposed League of Nations agreement to obviate objections to 'Article Ten. For this course we can only look to the Republican candidate.”
