ENDOWMENT LANDS

FREEHOLD TO BE GIVEN. (Our Parliamentary Correspondent.) ' WELLINGTON, Oct. 15. The Lands Law Amendment Act was introduced to-night. The following are to have preference ,in ballots under the Land Act:—(a) landless applicants who have children dependent on thorny (]>) landless applicants who within two years have been unsuccessful at ballots under the Land Act, or the Land for Settlement Act; (c) aplicants who have served abroad with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force; (d) applicants who were bona fide residents of New Zealand immediately prior to the war, and served with some force, other than.... the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Other applicants who are landless shall '• have prefernce over those who are not landless. No more land is to bo set apart as national endowments. The Governor may declare that, (a) any unoccupied national endowment land not exceeding the aggregate 10,000 £ acres 0 r (b) any national endowment land disposed of under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act 1915; or., (c) any national endowment land disposed of under the Land Act 1908, and held , under lease or license by any person who is competent to acquire the land . under the Discharged Soldiers _ Settle- |g ment Act shall cease to be national en- a| dowment land. The light to acquire the freehold of this laud is conferred.
