WORK OF SESSION

BILLS STILL TO BE PASSED,. -'■-X WELLINGTON, Oct. 11 A fairly formidable list of legislation to be completed before tho session ends was given to-nigliL by the Prime Minister, in answer to a question asked by Mr Witty. There was, Mr Massey said, a Finance Bill coming down. It was a non-contcntious measure, and lie did not think it would take very lojfg. There were also to he a Bank of New Zealand Bill, a Mines JJill, a Coal Mines Bill, and a Counties Bill (’which was at present before a committee of the House): Other measures it was Imped to take were a Compensation for Accidents Bill, a Housing Bill, a Railways Bill, and a Land Bill. The last-named was lioncontentious, and lie did not think it would take long to pass the House. Then, again, there were the Pensions Bill, Superannuation Bill, Public Service Rill, Death Duties Bill, Washingup Bill, and Local Railways Rill. The last of these was to authorise a narrow gauge of something like two feet for railways in the country. There would also be an Explosives and Dangerous Goods Bill, n Harbour Board Act Amendment Bill, a Rotorua Town Bill (quite distinct from the measure before the Jjlou.se at present), a Nurses’ Registration Bill, an Incorporated Societies’ Bill, a Law Drafting JJill (which would be merely a formal measure), an Education JJill, and an Animals’ Protection Bill, fie did not know whether there would be a Railway Authorisation Bill. There would, of course, be an Appropriation JJill. Mr Bartram: Will there he a Bill dealing with industrial life insurance? Mr Massey: “Yes.” He added that so far as ho could see there would ho no difficulty, in getting these Bills through in the next four weeks.
