"AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] A TURF CONTEST. (Received this day at 11.25 a.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 11. American and Canadian racing circles await with keenest interest the race between Man o’ War and Sir Barton at Windsor, Ontario to-morrow, which is believed to be the greatest match in the history of the American turf. The distance is a mile and a quarter. Man o’ War, a chestnut three year old, will carry 120 pounds, and is owned by the American Sam Widdlo. Sir Barton is a four jyear old chestnut, owned by the Canadian, Commander J. K. Ross, and will carry 126 pounds. Besides a se-, venty-five thousand dollars purse, a gold cup valued at five thousand will be presented to the winner. LONDON, Oct. 12. A feature of the opening of the Cesarewitch meeting, was the first defeat, out of eight starts, of Comrade in the Champion Stakes, which resulted— Orplms (Leach), 1; Comrade (Bullock), 2; Diadem 3. Orphous, which was third in the 1920 Derby and unplaced in the Ledger, won the Duke of York Stakes on Saturday.
