[PER PREBB ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT. 1 BAND CONTEST. DANNEVIRKE, Oct. 12. A public meeting decided to hold in Dannevirko early next year, from February 15th to 18th, a B. grade Band Contest. So far nine bands have expressed a'willingness to compete. i PRICE OF GAS. , AUCKLAND, October- 12. 1 The Gas Coy. announces the price of i gas will be increased by one shilling per thousand feet for next three months making it 8s 6d nett. A FIRE. TE KUITI, Oct. 12. At mid-night the proprietors of a big boarding-house at Kopaki discovered the place on fire and roused the boarders. The outbreak was located in a j cupboard in the kitchen. The place burned like tinder and half the house was completely destroyed nil contents being lost. FOUND DEAD. DUNEDIN, October 12. George Henry Tyler, aged 43, wa« found dead this morning under conditions which suggest Suicide. A don- I ble barrelled gun, recently discharged, i was found 1 beside the body, half the head mbeing blown away.
